An Oldham school has benefited from year-on-year energy savings of £16,000 and received a refund totalling £23,000, after enlisting the help of utility management specialists Orchard Energy.

As part of their drive to achieve efficiency savings, Waterhead Academy were looking for ways to reduce their water usage spend.

Orchard worked with the Academy to identify all overcharges, including the applicability of charges for surface water and highway drainage, while conducting a thorough survey of the site.

Information surrounding billing data, drainage plans, the school building and council ratings was gathered and submitted, and discussions were held with the supplier on site.

Orchard pressed further Waterhead’s case for savings at the suppliers’ head office and were able to achieve a bill reduction of £16,000.

And, by backdating the new bill, a refund of £23,000 was secured for the Academy.

Following a further inspection of the site, Orchard anticipates that more savings can be made and information to support these claims has been submitted.
