The Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) has announced the appointment of Lauren Costello OBE as its National Director of Primary Schools. Lauren joined the organisation as from 24th April and will take responsibility for all AET’s primary academies.

Lauren was co-founder of the White Horse Federation in Swindon, a high-performing Multi-Academy Trust of primary, secondary and special schools, with a strong national reputation for educational transformation and turnarounds. She was Director of Education for the Federation prior to joining AET, and has also served as Executive Principal and Head Teacher in various schools, having spent her early career teaching at secondary level in Derbyshire.

Among her many accolades, Lauren is a National Leader of Education with two national support schools, and was appointed by the Secretary of State to chair the Department for Education’s Workload Challenge Group on data and assessment in 2016.

Under Lauren’s leadership, we are geared up to see a real acceleration in the rate of this improvement, with schools moving from ‘good’ to ‘great’ - Julian Drinkall, Chief Executive of AET

Julian Drinkall, Chief Executive of AET, said she was delighted to be welcoming Lauren to AET.

“Primary schools have been a real strength of AET, where our average Ofsted rating is ‘good’ - and improving. Under Lauren’s leadership, we are geared up to see a real acceleration in the rate of this improvement, with schools moving from ‘good’ to ‘great’, and will be ready to invite further schools to join our portfolio.”
