Careers day at Bristol Metropolitan

Cabot Learning Federation school promotes employability with careers workshops and talks

This year Bristol Metropolitan Academy embraced the drive for employability and aspiration, with over 25 motivational workshops for year 11 students making their post-16 career options.

From those who aim to be doctors, lawyers, engineers and nurses, an occupational and academic workshop offered quality careers advice. During the day, there were competitions for the best business-dressed girl and boy to promote the value of a professional appearance. A fashion show and one-to-one coaching from local civil servants were also on the agenda.

The event was supported by DAC Beachcroft and the two students who have presented themselves in the best light will win match day tickets for a Bristol City football game.

Tim Holmes, Advice and Guidance Leader at Bristol Metropolitan, said: “With this subject high on the political agenda, it is vitally important that we discuss with students at this stage in their educational careers their possible next steps. The response from organisations, wanting to take part in this event has been overwhelming and I would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all those involved.”
