Mr Gove will officially open the show at 11am, Wednesday 22 January at London’s ExCel Centre with a keynote speech to an audience of the UK’s technology leaders and educationalists.

Speaking ahead of the show, that will run from 22-25 January, Dominic Savage, Bett founder and director general of the British Educational Suppliers Association, said: “The Secretary of State’s increasing support and interest in educational technology will be warmly welcomed and comes at a crucially important time for the education sector with the introduction of the new National Curriculum later this year.

“By visiting Bett, Michael Gove will be able to see first-hand and comment on exciting new computing and coding products and the many other innovative digital resources and products, all being launched at Bett, that will support schools to implement the largest curriculum change in a generation.”

Bett 2014 is the show’s 30th year; more than 35,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors from around the world will gather for four days of sharing ideas, networking and guidance.

Debbie French, portfolio director for Bett, i2i Events Group, adds: “The fact that Bett celebrates its 30th anniversary this year reflects how teachers have come to rely on it to bring them up to date with technology in education and more importantly, guide them through the changes they are facing. It is a real honour to welcome the Secretary State for Education to the show and we look forward to hearing from him at the opening address.”
